14 Apr How to Paint Your Home’s Interior Like a Pro
Painting the interior of your home is no small task. It requires a lot of planning, preparation, work, money, and time, which are all valuable resources that we shouldn’t spend carelessly. And what’s more, the work can be time-consuming and tedious. Of course, the result is often worth the work, but still, painting can be a difficult experience. It’s no wonder that most people avoid painting their houses at all costs!
But here’s the good news: painting doesn’t have to be difficult. It doesn’t have to be a tedious process. In fact, if you know a few tips and tricks, you can do a better paint job in a shorter amount of time than you usually would. So for those of you who have decided to paint their house or who need a little motivation to finally get around to painting their house, here are our favorite tips and tricks to help you paint like a pro.

- Clean the walls using a towel, rag, feather duster, or any other item that will get the job done. The cleaner the surface, the better the paint will stick and the fewer obstacles you’ll run into.
- Cover the floor with a plastic tablecloth. Of course, you can use plastic sheeting, canvas cloth, old towels, or anything else to cover the floor, but we have found that plastic tablecloths are great because you’re less likely to slip on them and they’re relatively inexpensive.
- Line your paint tray with tinfoil or plastic wrap before you begin. Not only will that protect your paint tray, but you’ll be able to seal it up if you decide to take a break and keep the paint from drying.

- Start with the ceiling. If you’ve decided that your ceiling needs a fresh coat of paint, take care of that before you work on the walls. When you paint your ceiling, you’re bound to get drips of paint on the surrounding walls, so when you do it first, you’ll be able to paint over them later.
- Start with the edges to get the hard part out of the way at the beginning. Take your time and cover anything you don’t want to be painted with painter’s tape. It might be annoying, but you’ll thank yourself later!
- Paint in a “W” pattern to ensure an even and complete coverage. Not only will this help you provide a more even coat, but it will also help you keep track of which areas you have painted and which ones you haven’t (if you’re painting the wall the same color).
